Rules & Regulation
I. General
1.1) Only officially registered
teams will be allowed to compete in the race.
1.2) Final team members
list should be submitted to the organizers before the
start of the race.
1.3) Only one (1) set of
official Race Passport and Map is to be used during
the race. These will be provided for by the organization,
loss of any of these items will be grounds for disqualification.
1.4) All teams are requested
to show respect for the local community and be extremely
conscious of the following:
1.5) Causing disturbance
when passing through properties, especially at night.
1.6) Damage to crops. That
which might look like weeds could be valuable to local
farmers. Fences that keep live stock in or out. Keep
them as they were after you pass through.
1.7) Teams are not allowed
to follow a leading team or use them as a point of reference
for navigation.
1.8) Assistance from team
support crews are only allowed at designate logistic
points (LP)
1.9) Assistance from outside
the team in navigation, logistics and supplies, first
aid (minor injuries) is strictly prohibited.
1.10) Race route will be
revealed 12 hrs. before the race. Teams will then be
isolated.
1.11) The race rules and
route may be modified at any time should the organization
see necessary. All teams will be informed of any changes
as soon as it is practically possible
II. Jury
2.1) The competition is
regulated by three judges: the Event Director, The Race
Director antd the Chief Route Setter.
2.2) The Jury’s decision
is final.
III. Route
3.1) All competing teams
will depart en masse from a designated starting line,
passing thru all control points in sequence and arrive
at the finish line before a designated cut-off time.
The team who crosses the finish line first, taking into
account all penalties and bonuses-wins the race.
3.2) Teams are required
to check-in at all control points in their proper order
3.3) For the passport to
be signed, all racing team members must be within hearing
distance of the control point marshal.
3.4) A missing control point
will be grounds for disqualification.
3.5) No vandalism to the
flora and fauna is allowed.
3.6) Teams who do not make
it to the designated cut-off time will be eliminated
IV. Validity
4.1) Any team may withdraw
at any control point and at any time during the race.
For safety purposes the Control Point Marshall should
be informed of your team’s withdrawal.
4.2) In the event that one
or more team members withdraw from the race, the remaining
members will be considered incomplete and out of contention
and will be pulled out of the race.
V. Withdrawal
5.1) Any team may withdraw
at any control point and at any time during the race.
For safety purposes-the control point marshal should
be informed of your team’s withdrawal.
5.2) In the event that one
or more team members withdraws from the race, the remaining
members will be considered incomplete and out of contention
and will be pulled out of the race.
VI. Safety
6.1) Weather conditions
may lead to modification of the route.
6.2) Mandatory safety equipment
(helmets, life vests, etc...) should be properly worn
when undertaking corresponding discipline.
6.3) All traffic rules must
be followed.
6.4) No team may intentionally
block other teams’ progress.
6.5) Emergency flares, portable
radios, or cellular phones shall only be used in cases
of serious injury or individual in danger. Activation
of these devices however automatically disqualifies
the team, unless the jury sees justification. (i.e.
to assist another team).
VII. Means Of Transport
7.1) The means of transport
are non-mechanical (mountain bikes, kayaks, bancas,
etc...) and mechanical for the support crew only.
7.2) Only support crew members
are allowed to ride the teams support vehicle.
7.3) Competing team members
are prohibited to hitchhike, ride or make use of the
designated means of transport of their support crew.
VIOLATION TO ANY OF THE RULES
STIPULATED ABOVE WILL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION. |
